  1. Hi Amelia! My name is Susie and I am a member of the Summer Learning Journey team this year. I will be commenting on your blog throughout summer to give you some feedback on your amazing posts. I hope you are as thrilled as I am!

I can see that you love to read lots of books during your free time. I love reading books as well because it takes you on this magical journey which sometimes cannot be explored in real world. That is why fiction books excite me so much. What is your ABSOLUTE favourite book to read? Also, do you have a book you are currently reading? I would love to know.

Well done on getting started on your very first activity Amelia. It would be great if you could label these activities in the title alongside 'NZ Fascinating Facts!'. For example, you can name it 'Day 1 Activity 1 - NZ Fascinating Facts!'. It would be extremely helpful for both of us as we move on.

Which one out of the five facts was your absolute favourite and why? I live in Auckland so I see the Sky Tower quite often, I can even see it on my way to work when I am driving! What is something you always see on your way to school?

Did you also know that sign language also became an official language of New Zealand in April 2006, alongside English and Māori? It is pretty amazing how we have three official languages. I am from Korea so I speak two languages; Korean and English, but I would love to learn sign language one day. Do you have any languages you would love to speak?

Looking forward to viewing more of your posts Amelia :)

    Talk soon,
    Susie

    1. Hi Susie,
Thank you for your feedback and I have fixed up the title. I read your comment and your questions and for the first question my favourite book I think is 'Figgy and the president' and the book I am currently reading is 'The Hunger an Irish girls diary 1845 - 1847'.
Also something I always see on my way to school is the back of the hair dressers and my local dairy building.
I think that my favourite of the five facts was the first one because I never new that Aotearoa meant the land of the long white cloud.
Last of all I would really like to learn french because my mum learnt french when she was growing up in England and she started teaching me a little bit of french and I learnt a little more from a learning language site called Duolingo.
Once again thank you for commenting and I was wondering if you play any sports or what you like doing for a hobby?

    2. Good afternoon Amelia, thank you for taking your time to reply to each and every one of my question. It is lovely to get to know more about your passion and interests :)

To tell you a little bit about myself, I recently finished my studies at the university to become a primary school teacher. As you may have guessed already, I LOVE teaching and I have a passion for sharing meaningful experiences with learners. Other than that, I am in love with painting, designing, crafting and taking photographs of the nature that surrounds us! I think staying creative is extremely important because we are all meant to be different and special in our own way, just like you are and just like I am :)

I am from Korea and I came to New Zealand when I was 13 years old. Another interesting fact about me is that I went to school in Canada when I was 10 years old and that's where I learned French! I only learned it for about a year and it was a very long time ago... so I can't say that I'm an expert. I am sure you know more French words than I do, so do you want to share with me a word that you recently learned from Duolingo? I will teach you how to say 'hello' in Korean. We say 'anyoung haseyo' when we greet people. It can be used at any time of the day.

I hope you are enjoying the book you are reading at the moment Amelia. Reading diaries can really show you what the world is like through the lens of another person. Once you finish reading the book, you should definitely tell me more about Phylly and her family! :)

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
